Benjamin Hubert designed the Heavy Light in 2008 for Decode London. This year (2010) he won International Young Designer of the Year at the Elle Decoration Awards. The Heavy light comes in white, light grey or dark grey hand-cast concrete in a natural finish. The choice of fittings is either red braided cable with a brushed steel ceiling rose, or white braided cable with a white ceiling rose.
The Heavy Light is the culmination of innovative manufacture, visual simplicity and the desire to challenge perception of materials. It encapsulates the material focused approach of Benjamin Hubert's studio and is designed not only to push the potential of an industrial material like concrete but also to challenge perceptions of value. It is available in three sizes:
- Small £265 - height 130mm, diameter 120mm - 3.5kg / G9 Max 40W
- Medium £285 - height 150mm, diameter 170mm - 4.5kg / G9 Max 40W
- Large £300 - height 235mm, diameter 288mm - 7.5kg / E27 Max 60W
Maximum drop height is 2 metres.
